Fertility & Womens Health

Acupuncture can strongly influence the reproductive and endocrine systems, so it’s great for supporting fertility and improving a wide array of gynecological conditions, such as PCOS, endometriosis, irregular periods, and premenstrual symptoms.
The first step in fertility treatments is usually regulating your menstrual/ovulation cycle, while working on reducing stress levels and managing weight if necessary. Patients generally see great improvements in their cycles within 2-3 months. Most women conceive within six to eight months of starting treatments (there are some who conceive within the first 1-2 menstrual cycles and some go for a year or more before they become pregnant).
Whether women are trying to promote fertility naturally or with the help of assisted reproductive therapies (ART) such as in-vitro fertilization (IVF) or intra-uterine insemination (IUI), acupuncture is a great way to:
- Regulate hormones (e.g. increase estrogen levels if low; decrease FSH levels if too high)
- Improve ovarian functions and the quality and quantity of follicles
- Increase blood flow to the uterus and thicken uterine lining for implantation
- Increase endometrium thickness where it is too thin
- Reduce side-effects of western drugs and intervention
- Increase sperm count, mobility and quality
- Reduce chances of miscarriages; prevent uterine contractions occurring with IFV and IUI
- Strengthen the immune system
- Decrease stress and anxiety
- Relax the uterus
